Dr. Don Gilman

Executive director of the Institute for the Advancement of Critical Thinking, Dr. Don Gilman is an international speaker and trainer specializing in team-based critical thinking and problem solving. He brings with him over 25 years of experience advising leaders on how to maximize their personal effectiveness by improving their critical thinking skills. He has worked with hundreds of companies and thousands of leaders to boost their success by using his proven tactics.

Don has over 16 years of combined experience in both the aerospace and automotive industries. While working in aerospace, he was a rocket scientist for the Titan IV missile and acted as mission manager for many classified missions. One of his accomplishments in the automotive industry was leading the North American and European Business Unit for a privately held company that was eventually acquired by Robert Bosch GmbH.

Don holds a BA in engineering physics, a BS in nuclear engineering, an MS in engineering management, and a doctorate in organization change. He now specializes in coaching professionals in the areas critical thinking, strategic planning, group-based problem solving, organization change initiatives, and cross-cultural challenges.

Dr. Don Gilman is the founder and executive director of The Institute for the Advancement of Critical Thinking (IACT), a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the discipline of critical thinking through research, education, and presentations. The Institute currently focuses on the growing environment of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA) in the business landscape today. These studies apply research and techniques generated by the United States Armed Forces over the last decade.
